Espoo, Finland, January 28, 2016
Innofactor Plc (Nasdaq OMX IFA1V) today announced that its learning analysis tool has won the 2015 international Quality Innovation of the Year Award for its Innofactor Skilli, a cloud-enabled, analytics-driven education platform consolidating latest pedagogical data and advanced analytics tools. The competition and award ceremony are organized by several European quality organizations, including Laatukeskus Excellence Finland.
“Innofactor Skilli is a tool for analyzing learning. Our innovation is strongly based on pedagogical research data. The starting point was to research how to collect data about learning situations and development of future skills. Moreover, we studied how the collected information can be used further in building individual learning paths and in improving quality of teaching and learning,” says Janne Heikkinen, CTO of Innofactor. “We were determined to see how analytics data could help, for example, in recognizing in advance the students who are at the risk of dropping out. We used the help of pedagogical experts and pilot project schools, top specialists in Business Intelligence, user interface designers specialized in modern learning, and highly skilled software developers,” Janne Heikkinen continues.
“Once again we are very pleased to see Innofactor showing their leading edge innovation using Microsoft cloud platform. This new product will definitely make an impact to improve education, an area where Finland has been a world leader. By capitalizing on these strong points, Microsoft will continue to work with Innofactor to make this a successful business and help other countries with their education systems,” says José Fernandes, Technology Evangelism Director, Microsoft.
Innofactor Skilli learning analysis tool has strong position in Finland and growing number of pilot schools in the US, the UK, Sweden and Spain. In June 2015, Innofactor Skilli was selected as a finalist in the Microsoft’s international category Education Partner of the Year and in November won a Quality Innovation of the Year Award in Finland. Innofactor’s goal is to make Skilli an internationally successful product and to utilize Finland’s reputation as a world’s top country in teaching.
