Cramo is a full-service construction machinery rental company that also provides services to support construction, renovation and maintenance operations. The company's roots can be traced back to 1953 and the founding of Rakentajain Konevuokraamo. Cramo Group was established on January 3, 2006, as the result of a merger between Rakentajain Konevuokraamo Oyj and Cramo, the Swedish market leader in the machinery rental industry.
The Netherlands-based Boels Rental Group acquired Cramo in 2020, resulting in the company being delisted from the Helsinki stock exchange.
The history of co-operation between Cramo and Invenco (now part of Innofactor) concerning Tabella Business Tools software can be traced back to 2015, when the companies started to use Tabella to implement a financial planning project between Cramo's different operating countries. Over the years, the co-operation has been expanded from Central Europe to the Nordic countries.
Cramo wanted to streamline the financial planning of its group support functions so that the budget figures could be retrieved in real time from the budgeting system used by the group. The aim of the development project was to avoid having to circulate data through the entire group's common consolidation system between rounds of planning, which presents challenges in terms of making efficient use of time.
The inadequate functionality provided by Excel became a problem for Cramo, so the group decided to incorporate the financial planning, reporting and consolidation activities of the companies that produce group services into the same Tabella software solution that was used for the operational companies. Co-operation starts from trust, and trust is strengthened not only by successes but also by responding quickly to changes in the operating environment and various challenges, which are inevitable.
Financial planning in Tabella was expanded to include forecasting in addition to budgeting. At the same time, the new Tabella Cloud environment made the entire financial planning process fully real-time. This meant that Tabella solved many challenges in one go.
The projects were implemented in accordance with the principles of the agile scrum model, which enabled the quick deployment of the software and the subsequent implementation of add-ons and roll-outs. The success of the co-operation was based on close interaction with the customer, strong commitment by both the customer and the supplier, dividing the project into multiple stages, and responding to open issues and problems in an agile manner. Potential risks were controlled in as precise and timely a manner as possible, which enabled the optimization of the project's predictability and progress.
"Seamless co-operation with the customer creates excellent conditions for project success and thereby brings added value to the customer's business management, which is the central focus of our customer projects," says Senior Consultant and project manager Merja Jaakkola.
"Our co-operation with Invenco was smooth, and we are very pleased with the outcome of the project. The challenges that emerged were quickly addressed, which made it possible to successfully complete the project on the original schedule," says Business Controller Tuomas Ikonen from Cramo.
On June 30, 2022, Innofactor acquired the entire share capital of Invenco Oy, a privately owned company specializing in data solutions. As of July 1, 2022, Invenco Oy's name was changed to Innofactor Invenco Oy. Invenco's employees continue their work with the new company. The roles and duties of Invenco's experts remained unchanged.
