Customer story: MSK Group

MSK Group is a family-owned company based in Ylihärmä in the municipality of Kauhava in South Ostrobothnia, Finland. The company's roots can be traced back to 1950. MSK Group is a leading supplier of complete cabs and plastic parts for agricultural vehicles and other industrial vehicles. The company's product portfolio also includes agricultural machinery and passenger car trailers. Its other business segment is focused on forest machinery, supplies and maintenance services.

The parent company MSK Group's subsidiaries are MSK Cabins Oy, MSK Matec Slovakia s.r.o., MSK Matec GmbH, MSK Plast Oy, Junkkari Oy and Juncar Oy. The group's consolidated net sales in 2021 amounted to EUR 173 million, and it employed approximately 800 professionals.

Reporting and enterprise resource planning in Azure Cloud

Invenco (now part of Innofactor) helped MSK Group, in the role of partner, migrate its on-premises data warehouse and reporting solution to a modern Microsoft Azure cloud platform. In MSK's previous solution, enterprise resource planning and reporting were both implemented on the company's own local servers.

MSK Group started its migration to the cloud-based Dynamics 365 ERP solution in 2020. Gradually migrating the company's data warehouse function and reporting to the cloud in connection with this change was a natural move.

Invenco helped with the planning and implementation of the overall solution, taking advantage of Microsoft's cloud services. The tools used included Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL DB, and Power BI, among others. The purpose of the solution was to enable both tactical and operational reporting for the customer.

Cloud solution enables subsequent expansion

The implementation is in line with the cloud service provider's common architecture models and Invenco's own tested best practices, which are based on extensive experience in the development of data warehouses using various technologies. Built on MSK, the solution can subsequently be expanded with Common Data Model or Azure Synapse Analytics solutions, for example. Reporting Analyst Panu Rintala from MSK Group has been closely involved in the development of the solution and believes that the chosen direction of development is appropriate.

Following the project, Invenco assumed maintenance responsibility not only for the new Azure-based reporting solution but also for the old on-premises solution, which remains in partial use. Day-to-day maintenance tasks were transferred to Invenco, allowing MSK's experts to better focus on new development projects.

"I'm pleased that we have found a partner that is both agile and stable, with whom we can continue to develop reporting functions that enhance our business operations," says MSK Group's CFO Kimmo Niemistö, describing the co-operation.
