Innofactor Plc Press Release, on June 27, 2024, at 13:15 Finnish time

Microsoft awarded Innofactor as the Breakthrough Business Case Partner of the Year 2024 in Finland. This award highlights Innofactor's extensive expertise within the Microsoft ecosystem and the capability to innovate together with customers to make the world work better.

The recognition specifically acknowledges the successful partnership between Innofactor and the City of Tampere. Over the past four years, Innofactor has undertaken several significant development projects in Tampere. These projects align with the city's strategy by facilitating intelligent service innovations for residents and businesses, as well as promoting efficient and meaningful work in service areas and seamless collaboration between them. Throughout the collaboration, Innofactor has utilized their expertise in developing modular business platforms in a novel way within the municipal and urban context. The city data and service platform implemented in Tampere, based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform solutions, is unparallel in scale in Finland and the Nordic countries.

"In the category of Breakthrough Business case of the Year, we reward a partner who has demonstrated exceptional innovation and the ability to create new, value-added breakthrough solutions for their customers. Innofactor's city data and service platform developed for the city of Tampere is an excellent example of this", comments Tarja Jernström, Director of Partner Business at Microsoft Oy.

Modular city data and service platform supports Tampere's strategy

The modular city data and service platform implemented in Tampere through multiple development projects is based on the Innofactor SmartCity Platform concept. The platform built for the city of Tampere enables meaningful urban work and intelligent, well-functioning future services to residents and businesses. It efficiently scales to the operational processes of different service areas and organizations within the city, allowing for the utilization of shared data and seamless integration of services on an unprecedented scale. The platform actively supports Tampere's growth and strategy, aiming to develop a prosperous, safe, equal, participatory, ecological, sustainable, attractive, and vibrant city.

"I would like to thank Microsoft for selecting Innofactor as the Breakthrough Business Case Partner of the Year 2024. This recognition showcases our extensive expertise within the Microsoft ecosystem and the capability to innovate together with customers to make the world work better. We have successfully implemented a city data and service platform that effectively supports Tampere's strategy, utilizing our experience in developing modular business platforms in a new way within the municipal and urban context. I see significant growth potential for this unique Innofactor SmartCity Platform concept at the national and Nordic levels. I would also like to thank the City of Tampere for the opportunity to contribute to the realization of their future vision," says Sami Ensio, Founder and CEO of Innofactor.

Project goals successfully achieved ahead of schedule

At the start of the collaboration, digitalization challenges were identified, and throughout the project, the focus has been on addressing these challenges guided by a shared vision.

"When we began the project, we set a vision for the year 2025. Now, in 2024, we have accomplished the majority of our goals about a year ahead of schedule", says Kimmo Kouhi, Head of IT Management at the City of Tampere.

Every organization has a unique starting point. However, Innofactor's experts have recognized common challenges associated with digitalization projects while working with various organizations in both the commercial and public sectors.

"The current systems are fragmented and incompatible, with data scattered across different parts of the organization. There is often duplication of work within and between units. Additionally, citizens and businesses have to interact with multiple touchpoints," summarizes Jyrki Vepsäläinen, Vice President, Innofactor Business Solutions. "The collaboration between Innofactor and the City of Tampere has shown that the Innofactor SmartCity Platform concept, developed to address these digitalization challenges, effectively adapts to the needs of different sectors within the city. It enables the utilization of shared data in new beneficial services for residents and businesses," Vepsäläinen adds.
